I’m centering my criticism of -phobia language on its use to obscure and distort a pointed understanding of heterosexism and anti-bi/pan/queer heterosexism.
Like, I think it’s a concern, but obviously hella other factors are in play when it comes to something as “similar” as a term like “lesbophobia” and I am not the person to ask about how those terms pan out amid this conflicting and competing aspects to them and their use.
Like the proliferation of -phobe terminology is something I take into account when I tag my posts, and is in some ways a positive reflection of people constructing unique narratives of their specific identity’s (or identities) common struggles.
It’s still not what I’d consider the best response, and is something I try to excise from my writing / analysis. That’s why I might tag something as “biphobia”, but I try to maintain in the argument that the social forces being discussed are anti-bi/pan/queer/etc heterosexism, and not a “phobia”.
I dunno if this is an uphill battle that’s sysiphian but reasonable, lost cause, or something else?
do you mind if i ask what your problem with -phobia language is, even if it’s separate orm thsi issue?Ah, no worries! It just really has grown out of a set of terms that shouldn’t be used to blame the people who experience them (and are often marginalized and unprivileged because they experience them) and used to refer to certain systems of unequal power and authority within our society, which some people can and frankly must be held accountable for their power within.
There is such a massive difference from the mainstream, widely bankrolled Gay Inc politics which fail to effectively address details of some cis bi/pan/queer men’s political needs, and the active, systemic violence that those politics perpetuate against trans people (especially trans women), people of color, disabled people, and women (again, uniquely trans women).
(And all of those occur in different and overlapping forms too.)
I get wanting some way to describe the uniquely anti-bi/pan/queer forms of heterosexism, and my only objection to “biphobia” is my objection to any -phobia terminology.
That does not an institutional oppression make, however.
And treating it that way, within the context of trying to make room for a White, cis, man and painting genderqueer and trans people who remember his cissexist past comments (among other such “anti-SJ” arguments) as policing power within the LGBTQ* community is fucking papering over those systemic power inequalities.
This is why I don’t fucking trust the politics of anti-monosexism, because it is a fucking obvious trojan horse.
It’s after midnight and everyone who gives a shit is dragging the fuck out of pizzaforpresident.
why is pizzaforpresident still posting though?? I thought he was still recovering from the trauma of not being able to go to disneyworld???
The White man’s burden.
Anonymous asked: how is not being attracted to trans people transphobic? im not attracted to men with vaginas because i dont find vaginas appealing, and im not attracted to women with penises because im not attracted to women, i dont want to be transphobic but i feel like im missing something
What a stunning way of experiencing sexuality that is totally divorced from notions of the supremacy of cis men over trans men and all women.

Welcome to the magical world of ~monosexual privilege theory~.
i feel that pizzaforpresident’s coming out as bi is even more reason to drag him over the coals so he doesn’t keep enabling and perpetuating transphobia in our communities.
Since when is being queer “against nature”? Because “the goal of any species is repopulation”? Why? What if people don’t want kids? Is it against nature if straight people don’t have kids? Jfc I hate “repopulation”. I hate bringing up animals to discuss human sexuality. Yes, snoopy and scooby may have sex but most animals that have same-sex incourse do so because they need to bust a nut not because of love or attraction.
Besides queer people can have kids anyway, via surrogacy or A.I. so it shouldn’t matter if Tom & Harry don’t wanna have kids. Repopulation is not what’s best for everyone anyway. Take child-rearing out the discussion, we already know kids raised by SS couples will turn out fine usually and people who ignore this are violent homophobes anyway. Just /stop/ with the birth/repopulation talk.
Also, adoption - the notion that reproduction is solely limited to biological reproduction is challenged in behavior observation on humans and other animals.
Literally, every part of the argument is wrong, and it ultimately leads to very eugenics-y thinking.
what happened to old zealand
It’s still there in the Netherlands.
